HP 14 inch Elitebook Business Laptop

HP Elitebook 8460 is a 14 inch laptop designed for business users with a high end Sandy Bridge Intel i5 processor and a fast flash drive at quite a budget price as the unit we’re reviewing is a manufacturer certified refurbished unit with very little or no signs of use and is tested thouroughly. We like the business style rugged construction, comfortable spill-resistant keyboard and impressive battery life of up to 8 hours on a single charge apart from the high end tech specs.

So the HP Elitebook comes with a dual core Intel i5-2520M processor (3MB L3 cache) at 2.5GHz speed that reaches a maximum frequency of 3.2 GHz with turbo boost and hyper threading for smart processing on 4 virtual cores and with a Thermal Design Power-TDP of 35 watts, 4GB DDR3L SDRAM at 1333 MHz to work on multiple tasks smoothly enough, 128GB Solid State Drive and 64-bit Professional Windows 7 operating system that is still the favorite of most computer users and there may be a new favorite soon some time in 2015 as Win 10 is due to be released over summer and autumn.

14 inch diagonal LED-backlit high definition anti-glare display with 1366 x 768 pixel resolution is quite good in terms of image quality even though it is not Full HD. Intel HD Graphics 3000 performs similar to the older NVIDIA GeForce 310M and will let you play games like Diablo 3 and World of Tanks smoothly at reduced settings. It also comes with a good quality built-in 720p resolution HD webcam with microphone for live business conferences or informal chats with friends on Skype.HP Elitebook 14 inch 8460p Business Laptop HP Elitebook 8460 weighs 5 pounds- so it is a little heavy for a 14 inch laptop as it is also quite durable with a rugged construction, made of both aluminium and plastic it has a sleek and premium looking exterior well beyond its price tag as well as a nice ergonomic and spill resistant keyboard for when spillage accidents happen- they certainly may and that would ruin the internals of the computer and a larger 6-cell lithium ion battery that will help with longer battery life of up to 7-8 hours. Connectivity options are the 802.11bgn wireless, Bluetooth 4.0, 10/100/1000 Mbps NIC Gigabit Ethernet with RJ-45 for wired internet access, Optical drive- DVDRW SuperMulti DL LightScribe, 2 x USB 3.0 ports, 1 x USB 2.0 port, SD- Media Card Reader, Fingerprint Scanner, Smart Card Reader and Security Lock Slot.

Conclusion: HP Elitebook 8460 is a great all rounder that can handle quite a lot except for heavy gaming and advanced multimedia editing with a business like rugged and robust build quality. You can upgrade the RAM on its two slots- it comes with 2 x 2GB = 4GB by default and should be adequate for most people. With the fast high performance Intel i5 processor with both turbo boost and hyper threading and the current amount of RAM you can comfortably browse the internet, run graphics programs and edit photos and even videos, work on Word documents and Excel spreadsheets and you will not experience any delays or freezing- the Passmark benchmark score of 3563 at the time of this review also suggests that. It is a little bulky and as heavy as a 15.6 inch laptop due to the solid build and there is no HDMI output but is still a great computer that performs well thanks to the decent i5 processor and good size SSD- a very solid choice for anyone and not just business people and can be used for both daily and more demanding tasks.
