VIZIO M602i-B3 is the latest model M series 60 inch premium smart LED TV with beautiful design- super slim silver frame with rounded corners, matte screen, great picture quality and many features including full-array LED backlighting for better picture and evenly distributed light throughout with 32 Active LED dimming zones for improved contrast control and deeper- more saturated blacks, bright whites and fine details, 240 Hz effective refresh rate for fast action videos and sports with the Clear Action 720 feature that should be off when not watching fast action stuff.
VIZIO M602i comes with the integrated 802.11n wireless to connect you to the internet quickly and the VIZIO Internet Apps Plus to have access to the HD streaming services without problems for the best songs and videos from Amazon Instant Video, Netflix, Vudu, Pandora, Spotify, YouTube etc. It has the smart remote control to control these applications (with dedicated buttons for M Go, Amazon and Netflix) and the QWERTY keyboard on the remote is backlit for convenience- to use comfortably in dim light.
With second screen interactivity, if you have a smart mobile device like a tablet or phone (Android or iOS), you may first go on Youtube or Amazon Instant Video on your mobile and transmit it wirelessly to your 60 inch screen TV. The whole apps and internet thing offers a more intuitive user platform that is redesigned and improved on the previous TVs. It seems to handle streaming quite smoothly (better than many other smart TVs) with the content loading up quickly and offering superior picture.
Vizio M602i-B3 is a great value (value oriented) television without the 3D playback so it concentrates more on awesome picture quality thanks to the full-array LED backlighting it offers and many smart TV features, superior contrast with the optional Active LED Dimming that you can select from the Advanced Picture Settings Control to help it compete with the best TV brands.
The picture processing engines of brands like LG, Samsung and Sony are better so you’ll get a bit less sharpness with Vizio. It also doesn’t have an IPS panel so side viewing angles are not the best- you start getting picture quality- colour and contrast loss at 40-50 degrees to the sides, which is a common problem in many LED TVs. You may want to look at LG brand TVs that come with IPS panels in 2014.
It looks quite like the previous VIZIO M series model TVs with subtle changes like thinner bezels at 8mm that help give it that frameless look. The neck and the base is made of metal which gives it a smarter, more durable and solid feel. If you’d rather go for the competition- a Samsung or LG with same size and similar features, they seem to cost a few hundred dollars more on average. Vizio weighs 53.8 pounds with stand and 46.36 lbs without stand, with measurements of 10.4 x 53.6 x 33.4 inches.
Vizio has the Widescreen cinematic aspect ratio of 16:9, has 2 x 10W speakers but delivers OK sound, comes with Full HD 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution, a USB port, 4 x HDMI ports. It has its flaws, being a budget 60 inch smart TV and perhaps video processing and colour accuracy are not as good as the brand-name competition but with all the features it offers and picture quality, it comes across as a more expensive model than it actually is.
