13.3″ Apple MacBook Air MJVE2LL/A via Amazon
The early 2015 release slim and lightweight all aluminium design Apple MJVE2LL/A is the newest 13.3 inch Macbook Air ultraportable laptop with a 5th generation powerful and energy efficient Broadwell processor with a Passmark score of 3599 as of this review day, 128GB of Solid State Drive, 1440 x 900 pixel resolution screen with Intel HD 6000 integrated graphics, 802.11ac wireless, the latest OS X Yosemite and other special Apple features at the low end of the price range for Mac computers, what you’re getting is a fast and powerful computer that is good for not just daily work and entertainment but more demanding tasks as well.
Macbook Air MJVE2LL-A comes with the January 2015 release dual core Intel i5-5250U processor (3 MB shared L3 cache) at 1.6GHz to 2.7GHz speeds with Intel Turbo Boost 2.0 and hyper threading with two cores handling four threads in parallel, 4 GB LPDDR3 memory at 1600 MHz for basic multitasking, 128 GB PCIe-based flash storage for quicker boot-ups and resuming from hibernation, snappy overall performance, slimmer chassis and improved battery life and OS X Yosemite as the world’s most advanced operating system that is much better and easier to use than any Windows versions. These specs may seem relatively basic on paper but this is an Apple laptop that functions differently to what you may have been used to and in practice it is a totally different story- gotta be experienced to be understood.
Glossy finish 0.19 inch thin 13.3 inch diagonal energy efficient LED backlit widescreen display with 1440 x 900 pixel resolution and 16:9 cinematic aspect ratio offers great picture quality with bright and vibrant colors and gives you the impression that it is larger than 13.3 inches (this is common to all Apple computers). Graphics card is Broadwell’s high end integrated Intel HD 6000 with shared memory that offers up to 25% better overall performance than the Haswell Intel HD 5000 and equivalent of NVIDIA GeForce 820M so you can play the latest games at lower settings and resolutions but is great for general multimedia stuff like photo editing and video streaming. Like the other Mac computers sound quality is really good through the integrated stereo speakers (actually even better now on these latest models) if you do not have super high expectations and you can connect Bluetooth speakers and headphones as Bluetooth 4.0 is supported by default. It has a 720p FaceTime HD webcam with dual microphones that eliminate the background noise, for making those great quality FaceTime or Skype calls to catch up with your loved ones.
High precision unibody aluminium chassis Silver Apple MJVE2LL/A weighs 2.96 pounds and has the measurements of 8.94 x 12.80 x 0.68 inches (0.11 inch at its slimmest point) but is very strong and durable as it is cut from a solid block of aluminium. It has a Lithium Polymer (LiPo) battery that offers you up to 12 hours of battery life on a single charge- by both the ultra low voltage processor and flash drive as it takes up to 90% less space (leaving more space for a larger battery) and works much quieter than a traditional HDD. Ergonomic full-size chiclet style keyboard is backlit and has a decent size and functional multitouch glass trackpad that gives you proper control of the system. There is no optical drive as none of the current Apple computers do except for the entry level non-Retina Macbook Pro with the 3rd generation CPU and regular hard drive. It has the MagSafe 2 power connector, Thunderbolt 2 to connect to the most advanced screens and devices, 2 x USB 3.0 ports, 802.11ac wireless, Bluetooth 4.0 and an Audio-out port so it easily and efficiently transforms into a large workstation from a small ultrabook. For Ethernet wired internet connection you can get a simple USB Ethernet adapter- this doesn’t have to be the more expensive one sold by Apple but one of the cheaper alternatives on Amazon, otherwise the Macbook Air is a wireless only device.
Conclusion: The new Macbook Air MJVE2LL/A is a great entry level Apple ultrabook notebook with the latest 5th generation i5 processor and Intel HD 6000 integrated graphics. And as compared to Windows machines, nothing about it is ‘entry level’: Build quality, superior design, power and performance, picture and sound quality, wireless connection speed and more. You need a Windows machine with much higher specs, more advanced processor, larger memory and hard drive etc. to get a similar feeling or something close to this, so even though Apple computers are not cheap you do need spend the same or more on a Windows machine to get the same quality, functionality and performance but of course this is not a valid argument for gaming purposes as although there are many games out there created for Mac systems, if you want to play those latest 3D games of 2014/2015 fluently you do need a very powerful Windows machine with at least a mid-range discrete graphics card. Otherwise it is capable of handling pretty much anything you’d do on a daily basis and more complex intensive tasks- for both work and entertainment and you will have and do all that Mac offers without the PC viruses or having to use anti virus programs that would affect the performance of your machine in the short and long-run. It is a great quality aluminium machine designed around the flash storage and comes with 1 year limited warranty by Apple and great free phone customer support for 90 days.
