Samsung XE501C13-S01 Chromebook 3 is an 11.6-inch laptop with basic entry level specs and features for your daily computing tasks, especially web browsing or watching videos, and using online and offline apps on the Chrome operating system.

Technical specs include the Intel Atom X5 processor, 2GB memory, 16GB eMMC flash storage and Chrome OS. The quarter 2 of 2016 release quad-core Intel Atom x5-E8000 processor (2M cache, 4 cores and 4 threads) has a base speed of 1.04GHz that goes up to 2GHz with turbo boost (no hyper-threading). And it has a Passmark benchmark score of 1568 for your everyday tasks at the time of this product review.

2GB LPDDR3 memory at 1600MHz is OK for having 3-4 browsers and a couple of apps open at once. 16GB eMMC is small amount of storage but you will be depending more on Cloud storage where you have internet access or you can hook up an external storage through a USB port. Also the speed is much higher than a regular HDD hard drive. Google Chrome operating system runs updates in the background automatically and you won’t even be aware.

Night charcoal Samsung XE501C13-S01 laptop weighs only 2.6 pounds with the measurements of 11.4L x 8.1W x 0.7H inches- is quite compact and portable. And with up to 10-11 hours of battery life from its 2-cell lithium ion battery, you can be out and about most of the day. It is an Energy Star certified laptop with a TDP- Typical Thermal Design power of 5 watts. It has an island style keyboard with a clickpad that supports multiple gestures.

11.6″ non-touch widescreen display with the 16:9 image aspect ratio has the regular high definition resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. Connectivity options include the 802.11ac wireless, Bluetooth 4.0, a USB 2.0 port, a USB 3.0 port, a Micro SD Multimedia Card Samsung XE501C13-S01 Chromebook 3Reader, a Headphone out/ Mic combo and a DC-in. The HD Graphics (Cherry Trail) is the GPU that is built into the Atom x5-E8000 processor and lets you play the usual simple Chrome games.

Atom x5-E8000 has a slower base speed than the Atom x5-E8350, offers a similar performance to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 and a similar multi-core performance to the Celeron N3350 with a slower graphics card. It is good enough for simple daily tasks like surfing the net on Chrome browser but not for complex software or gaming. It is quite an all right machine at the very low price point, especially if you need a computer for mainly browsing the internet or streaming videos. It has a user rating of 5 stars by only 2 customers at the moment as it appeared at Amazon.com only recently.
