Acer Aspire One Cloudbook, 11.6-inch AO1-131-C9PM

Acer Aspire One Cloudbook (AO1-131-C9PM) is an 11.6 inch HD screen low end compact laptop with the latest Windows 10 operating system, up to 8 hour battery life (on non-stop video playback), faster 802.11ac wireless connection, basic but power efficient new Braswell dual core Intel Celeron N3050 at 1.6 GHz speed up to 2.16GHz with Intel Burst and with better graphics performance and TDP of only 6 watts, 2GB DDR3L SDRAM memory, 32 GB eMMC flash memory as you will be mostly using Cloud storage to save stuff and to have convenient access when you’re out and about- 1TB storage for two years from OneDrive. One year subscription of Microsoft Office 365 Personal (with the activation code) is included in the package and Windows 10 comes with great new features like the new Start page, Cortana and Microsoft Edge browser and it is great that you don’t have to install it from Windows 8.1 like most other laptops on the market.

11.6 inch matte TN panel ComfyView HD widescreen LED backlit display with 1366×768 pixel resolution and 16:9 image aspect ratio has normal level brightness- not super impressive but quite adequate for a low end PC with an anti-glare coating. It has the Intel HD Graphics for great video playback and for viewing colourful content-rich webpages swiftly, an integrated VGA webcam with a 640×480 pixel resolution and dual digital microphones with background noise cancellation function that you can snap still photos with or chat live on, and two integrated stereo speakers and HD audio support for more than sufficient sound quality on such a small budget computer. Mineral gray Acer Aspire is made of solid plastic as you can expect from such machine but with little flex, weighs 2.54 pounds only and measures 11.50 x 7.95 x 0.70 inches, 2-cell lithium polymer battery pack (4200 mAh) will offer you maximum of 8-hours and this will depend on how you use it and your settings. You have all the necessary connectivity options, such as the  802.11ac wireless (Dual-Band 2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.0, so you can connect it to Bluetooth enabled headphones or speakers, Secure Digital (SD) card reader, 1 x USB 3.0 port, 1 x USB 2.0 ports and an HDMI output with HDCP support.

Acer Aspire One Cloudbook, 11.6 inch AO1-131-C9PM

Conclusion: Aspire One Cloudbook is a very portable- slim and lightweight everyday computer with a simple and clean fan-less design and that is Cloud storage oriented- designed to go on Cloud faster so you have very easy access to your apps and files. You have the much faster WiFi connection with up to three times the speed and you will not need to worry about updates or backups as it is all automatic. Acer’s Build Your Own Cloud- BYOC is located on your own laptop and it is up to you how big you want your Cloud storage. Although 2GB may seem like not a lot of memory and it is not expandable by the user, you will still experience OK performance with the eMMC flash storage and Cloud combination rather than a mechanic hard drive but you probably shouldn’t have more than a few browser tabs open simultaneously. Despite its small size it has the full-sized keyboard with spaced out keys and a decent very intuitive and responsive touchpad but no 10-key numpad due to size restrictions (and we prefer it this way) and is quite comfortable to type on and easy to navigate the new Windows 10. Word and Excel run quite well on it so it would make it quite a nice little student computer and fanless design means no more annoying fan noise and no heat build-up on your hands or your lap after hours of being on the laptop.
