Samsung 740u5l-Y02 Flagship Premium Notebook Spin 7
The platinum silver Samsung 740u5l-Y02 Spin 7 is a late 2016 release 15.6 inch 2-in-1 premium laptop with a Full HD touch display that flips and folds around a 360-degree hinge (laptop, tablet, presentation, audience and tabletop), the NVIDIA GeForce 940MXI graphics card, a backlit keyboard, large amounts of storage and memory and a long battery life. Technical specs include the sixth generation Skylake ultra low voltage dual core quarter 2 2015 release Intel i7-6500U processor at 2.5GHz speed up to 3.1GHz with turbo boost and hyperthreading with two cores handling four threads in parallel, 12GB DDR4 memory at 2133Mhz to give you full multitasking power that will not need to be expanded unless you’re an advanced power user in need of extreme multitasking power, 1TB Serial ATA hard drive at 5400rpm rotating speed with standard write and read times and Windows 10 operating system.
15.6-inch LED-backlit FHD touchscreen has 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution so you have great clarity and vivid colors in your images, videos, and games. The NVIDIA GeForce 940MX graphics with 2GB dedicated memory has the video card benchmark score of 1260 at the time of this review so will let you play the latest games at medium to high settings and resolutions. And you have the built-in Intel HD 520 graphics with a current video card score of 845 and a similar performance to NVIDIA GeForce 820M. The system will use the integrated card for less demanding tasks and for the advanced games it will switch to the dedicated 940MX. DVD Optical Drive is not included here but a range of modern connectivity including a 802.11ac wireless, Bluetooth 4.0 to sync with your Bluetooth-enabled MP3 player, smartphone and laptop, a USB 3.0 port, 2 x USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI output, a Media Card Reader that supports SD, SDHC and SDXC formats, a Headphone/microphone jack and an integrated high-definition webcam on the top bezel that includes a microphone.
Samsung Spin 7 weighs 5 pounds, is 0.8 inches thick (dimensions of 14.7 x 10.1 x 0.8 inches)- is not a particularly light laptop as it weighs around 5 pounds (average weight for a 15.6-inch unit). The CPU has the Thermal Design Power- TDP of 15 watts and a Passmark benchmark score of 4412 at the moment so it is capable of dealing with all your daily stuff as well as Office tasks, multimedia and anything demanding, stays cool and quiet the whole time. You will be able to use this 2-in-1 comfortably in the dim light or dark as it includes a backlit keyboard that is full size and comfy to type on and a well-functioning touchpad. Windows 10 starts up faster than the previous versions of Windows and includes some pretty decent and user-friendly features like the Windows 7 Start menu, Cortana Personal Assistant, and the Edge browser. 5400rpm speed on the mechanical drive could at least be 7200rpm and an SSD would give you a way better speed, there is a single USB 3.0 port for fast data transfers and there is no built-in CD/DVD Drive but for the price level the pros outweigh the cons and we think this is a great value, flexible and well-built 2-in-1 laptop.
