2017 13.3″ Lenovo Yoga 2 900 QHD+ Touch Notebook
Lenovo Yoga 2 900 is the latest 2017 model 13.3 inch 2-in-1 convertible laptop with a 360-degree fli̇p-and-fold desi̇gn- a QHD+ touch display rotating around its 360-degree watchband auto-lock hinge that allows the unit to be used in different formats from proper laptop to tablet. Technical specs include the sixth generation dual-core Intel i7-6560U ultra-low voltage mobile processor (4 MB cache) at 2.2GHz to 3.2GHz speeds with turbo boost function and hyperthreading for 2 cores and 4 threads running in parallel, 8GB LPDDR3 memory at 1866MHz, large and fast 256GB Solid State Drive and Windows 10 operating system 64-bit Home version. Skylake Intel i7-6560U was first released at the beginning of 2016 and has a Passmark benchmark score of 4792 at the time of this review and you will see it in both the high end ultrabooks and regular laptops.
QHD+ resolution on the 10-point multitouch display is equal to 3200 x 1800 pixels which is much better quality than the Full HD resolution and you are guaranteed super clear images and amazing colors on its bright display and with IPS panel you will enjoy larger viewing angles up to 178 degrees both vertically and horizontally. The graphics card is the brand new integrated Intel Iris 540 with a 64MB dedicated eDRAM memory and that also shares the memory with the CPU and offers similar performance to the dedicated GTX 760M and a bit better than GeForce 920M, so you can play the games of 2015-2016 at low to medium settings. Platinum silver Lenovo Yoga 900 is beautiful, elegant and modern- looks almost like a piece of art, weighs 2.84 pounds and is only 0.59 inch thick (super slim). As a very portable unit you can take it anywhere you go with up to 9-hour battery life from its 4-cell lithium polymer battery as well (Thermal Design Power is 15 watts). You can open and close it with one hand with the auto-lock hinge technology. It can be used as a proper tablet with a responsive touchscreen and a full notebook with a decent keyboard of responsive keys and touchpad.
It has no DVD Optical Drive but includes the more advanced 802.11ac WiFi for both better speed and coverage, Bluetooth, HDMI for when you want to connect to large displays, two USB 3.0 ports, a USB 2.0 port, a USB Type-C port, Media Card Reader that supports SD, MMC, SDHC and SDXC formats and a Headphone/microphone combo jack. You’ll see an HD quality webcam on the top bezel with two microphones, one of which blocks the background noise. The keyboard is backlit and will ensure comfy typing experience in the dark. You can feel it has a very solid case despite being very thin, charging cable could be a little bit longer according to one of the customers and we don’t think this is a biggie. Convertible ultrabooks tend to cost more than regular laptops with the same specs as you also will not need to get a tablet and laptop separately and this one actually has pretty high-end specs and features, runs fast for most tasks, has a great QHD+ touch display, offers decent battery life, stays cool with the special vents in the hinge and runs quietly. You’ll experience immersive sound for your movies, songs, and games, through the Dolby Home Theater and JBL speakers. Great value for money if you’re on the market for a powerful convertible machine!
