Sceptre E505BV-FMQK 50 inch LED 1080P HDTV review

Sceptre E505BV-FMQK is a recent release 50 inch FHD LED backlit HDTV with 1920 x 1080p resolution, 30,000:1 high contrast ratio, 16:9 image aspect ratio, MEMC (Motion Estimation and Motion Compensation) rating of 120, SRS TruSurround HD, 3HDMI ports so you can connect to a variety of other devices easily- satellite TV, DVD/Blu-Ray Player and game console and more (one of the HDMI ports is MHL ready) and a USB 2.0 port to hook up your USB flash and hard drives easily. Piano black Sceptre E505BV-FMQK has a modern and stylish design- looks quite nice for a budget TV with also its slim frame and thin bezels with sleek brush pattern that also protects from scratches. It weighs 37.5 pounds, measures 44.2 x 17.7 x 28 inches, is VESA wall mountable and the 50 inch screen is large enough for your living room or any room of your house.

1080p resolution means it has more than 2 million pixels for more clarity and detail and the image quality is quite good- clear, sharp and crisp with vibrant radiant colours and 30000:1 Dynamic contrast ratio is great for sharper images. You’ll experience almost no motion blur with a screen refresh rate of 60 Hz and 8.5 ms response time for distortion and blur-free images in sports and fast action stuff and quick screen transitions. This TV is ROKU ready meaning when you purchase a ROKU streaming stick you will get fully integrated streaming up to 1080p HD, more than 750 entertainment channels, dual band with extended range wireless and is compatible with a ROKU game remote. Being a LED-backlit TV it lasts longer and is Energy Star 6.0 qualified with an estimated annual electricity use of less than 135 kilowatts and less than 15 USD per year. One of the HDMI ports being MHL ready, MHL stands for Mobile High Definition Link and it lets you connect tablets and smart phones to HDTVs supporting up to 4K displays and 7.1 surround sound.

This is much better than the standard video and audio cables with no adapters needed (one cable from the device to the TV) charging your phone or tablet and streaming simultaneously of TV shows, videos and music- your TV screen mirroring what you do on those devices. You will not need to use a separate ROKU remote as the purple buttons on the main TV remote provide support for ROKU. Other than the 3 HDMI ports and a USB port, you have your video left and right ports, a Composite/Component port, a Headphone Out, a Digital Coaxial Audio Out and a PC-VGA port. For sound you have the DTS SRS TruSurround HD with great bass and smooth treble and wider sound capability through the built-in speakers so you hear crisp and clear sound- you can’t expect amazing here but pretty good for a HDTV, especially a low cost HDTV and a nice feature is the Auto Volume that adjusts the sound level automatically according to modulation signal levels when you’re changing channels so there won’t be differences in volume on different channels. Sceptre is a California based consumer electronics company with more than three decades of history and they offer great customer support with service representatives all based in US.
