Samsung UN32H5500 Smart LED Full HD TV via Amazon
Samsung UN32H5500 is a solid great value edge-lit LED Smart Full HD TV with resolution twice as high as regular HD, 16:9 image aspect ratio, a 60Hz refresh rate that is actually the improved version of 2013 model F5500 Smart TV. For action movies and fast moving stuff it has the Clear Motion Rate of 120 (Effective), has 3 x HDMI, 2 x USB, a Composite in and a Component, an Optical audio output and a 3.5mm Analog output with fixed volume (designed to be used with sound systems but you can still hook up headsets).
Samsung UN32H5500 weighs 11.6 pounds, has the dimensions of 28.4 x 16.9 x 1.9 inches without stand and 28.4 x 18.3 x 6.4 inches. So it is less than 2 inch thick and very slim 0.3 inch bezels- which make it look more expensive than it actually is- plain but sleek and modern. This is a modern TV with a quad processor that runs the Smart Hub (and this is the main difference from the previous year’s F5550 model) that offers a good variety of free and paid content and you will see how smoothly you navigate through different Smart functions- it loads apps very quickly. Edge-lit LED lighting offers vibrant colours and bright image when looked from the front and centre but when you move from the centre image quality is somewhat diminished. But this is a 1080p resolution Full HD TV and you will be fine with just 720p resolution HD Ready screen in most cases but FHD is nice to have anyway, if you use it as a computer monitor- connecting it via the HDMI ports, you will be sitting right in front of it and you’ll see the difference in image clarity and more space to work on.
It would have been better with a 120Hz refresh rate for sports and any fast motion stuff but 60 Hz will do just fine too at this price level and as this is a 32 inch TV the motion blur will be less noticeable than larger screen TVs, considering this is a FHD Smart TV with a quad core processor and decent features and great picture quality with deeper blacks and brighter whites. Wide Colour Enhancer will give you improved wider range of colours even with non- high definition content. Viewing angles are fine but not the best, colour and contrast start to be degraded at about 30 degrees but remember this is not a very expensive TV. The interface of Smart Hub looks like the tiled interface on tablets and smartphones and makes the navigation definitely easier and with the quad core processor that you can find in much more expensive Samsung TV’s so it runs pretty fast. You’ll see a new Games page and a large number of S recommendation features- personalised according to what you often watch or what is popular these days.
Samsung UN32H5500 is quite a good-looking TV for its low price- thin bezels, slim profile with a nice black square stand. So you have the great- crisp and clear picture quality, very nice premium look, many Smart TV options and great functioning by its quad core processor that helps faster multi-tasking, refreshing pages faster and streaming content, a full browser and integrated wireless, OK sound but high volume (Sound is not super special but the volume is good) and a CRM of 120 rather than 240 of the higher model H6350. It is an Energy Star certified TV, being a power efficient LED screen TV with an Eco Sensor feature so the brightness of TV will be automatically adjusted to the light level in the room- will save you on energy bills. It has a five panel menu that is easy to work on: Smart TV, Social Media, Photos and Music, On-Demand and On-TV. So you don’t have to search through channels as you will get to the content you want much easier, switch between different content faster. Highly recommended television especially at the current price level.
