Samsung BD-J7500 Blu-ray Player via Amazon
Samsung BD-J7500 is the new 2015 model sleek and fast high end Blu-ray player with 3D, 4K Ultra High Definition upscaling, Smart Hub, WLAN wireless, screen mirroring and Multiroom Link Compatibility and lets you use apps like Netflix, Hulu Plus, YouTube, Amazon Instant, BBC iPlayer and Yupp TV comfortably, has analogue sound outputs, 2 HDMI outputs, 1 HDMI-CEC, a USB port and an Ethernet and comes with a great functional remote that shines in the dark or dim light. Glossy black with metallic top Samsung BD-J7500 weighs 3.8 pounds with measurements of 16.9 x 7.9 x 1.8 inches so it is fairly compact, slim and lightweight, looks quite smart, attractive and modern so will look great in any living room.
Clear, loud and impressive sound with strong dynamics is provided by 7.1 Discrete Analog Audio for a surround sound set-up, DTS HD Master Audio and Dolby True HD. Picture quality is quite amazing with deep contrast, sharp images and just the right tones of colours without the jagged edges of average quality 4K upscaling and without motion blur or lagging for fast moving images. By taking the FHD 1080p resolution one step up the 4K upscaling feature gives you sharper picture with more detail and even more realistic colours and seems to be a decent way to update and improve your home entertainment centre and you will not need to purchase an expensive Smart TV for all this unit offers. It is very easy to set-up and start using, looks and feels like a great quality unit when you take it out of the box, hold it (feels solidly built) and use and is easy to operate with good set of features. Smart Hub is what we see on the 2014 model and still great- more like the smart functions you would find on a Samsung Smart TV, comes with many useful apps but the four touch buttons at the top front of the unit are a little difficult to see or read and you would be using the remote more.
We’re not so sure about the future of 4K upscaling but this Samsung can upgrade everything to Ultra HD level, loads Blu-ray and DVD discs pretty fast and DVDs aren’t upscaled as good as the Blu-rays, offers home networking and multimedia support. It is quite a nice unit to use with your HDTV with more than adequate processing power to handle all the features and apps and you can move between menus and pages and Smart Hub very smoothly and you’ll find the Samsung apps section, a Multimedia section and a Play Disc window (disc title page), has a proper full web browser for access to web and video playback from certain websites. There is a quick installation wizard on the Settings menu. You’ll find a grid of 22 apps through the Samsung Apps and they include the above as well as Dailymotion, TED, AccuWeather, Vimeo and more plus ITV Player, 4OD and Demand Five will be there too soon. It is compatible for use with 3D televisions. As an Energy Star qualified Blu-ray player it will consume less electricity than average, will not add up much to your energy bills and you will experience great performance for both 2D or 3D and is offered with a 1 year parts and labor warranty by Samsung.
