Lenovo Yoga 710 14- i7347-7550S Hybrid Laptop
Silver Lenovo Yoga 710 14 (i7347-7550S) is the new 14 inch convertible laptop with a solid 360-degree hinge that lets it be used in laptop and tablet modes, long battery life of up to 8 hours, Full HD touch display, large SSD rather than a mechanical drive, Skylake i5 processor and backlit keyboard- can easily handle plenty of multitasking and very demanding applications. It includes the latest sixth generation ultra low voltage Intel i5-6200U processor (3MB L3 cache) at 2.3GHz up to 2.8GHz speed with turbo boost and hyper threading for 2 cores and 4 threads, 8GB DDR3L SDRAM at 1600MHz for efficient and smooth multitasking, 256GB Solid State for both size and speed- fast start ups and overall performance and Windows 10 operating system. 14 inch edgeless FHD touchscreen with narrow bezels is bright with great contrast and beautiful colours with the 1920×1080 pixel resolution and IPS panel for very large viewing angles and the touch function works well. This is not a gaming machine so it comes with the Intel HD 520 integrated graphics card that is good enough for usual multimedia tasks and light gaming- latest titles at low and easy titles at higher settings.
Webcam on the top of the bezel is the 1 MP Fixed Focus CMOS Camera with 720p resolution and is a decent one and sound is more than satisfactory- nice and loud with Dolby Audio through the JBL Speakers. DVD/CD Drive is not available here but a decent amount of modern connectivity including the 2×2 802.11ac wireless and Bluetooth 4.1, an HDMI output, 2 x USB 3.0 ports, 4-in-1 Media Card Reader that supports SD, SDHC, SDXC, MMC formats, DisplayPort and Audio Combo Jack. Yoga 710 14 has a beautiful metallic design, weighs 3.5 pounds with dimensions of 12.7 x 8.8 x 0.7 inches- slim, compact and portable with long battery life that will keep you going all day long. The antennae on the laptop hinge further improves the wireless strength. It has a very rigid and sturdy build, beautiful appearance, screen is excellent and offers high performance with a great combination of the 6th generation i5 CPU, large SSD and memory. Whether you will be performing simple daily tasks like web browsing or word processing or you are a professional in need of speed and performance and you want the portability and long battery life, then it may be a good one for you.
53 WHr lithium ion battery charges very quickly (full charge in about two hours) and lasts up to 8 hours, thanks to the ultra low voltage i5-6200U processor with a TDP of 15 watts. Someone commented on the different / interesting placement of the Shift and Enter keys way on the right and touchpad being not so responsive and the overall keyboard and touchpad layout but they got used to it pretty quickly. Please note that you need to press the Function key with up and down arrows to do page up and down, like on Mac keyboards. Power cord is 6 feet long and has a lightweight but very large adapter so you may need to be fairly close to a power outlet or use an extension cord. Intel i5-6200U has a benchmark score of just under 4000 at the time of this review so although it is not super powerful as the focus here is a bit more on power efficiency here which makes it ideal for portable ultrabooks but is still a high end processor that can easily handle difficult office and multimedia tasks, with the help of large memory and SSD. Intel HD 520 is not very special with a video card benchmark score of 762 and overall performance levels of dedicated GeForce 820M but will still let you play the games of 2015-2016 smoothly at low settings and resolutions.
