Lenovo ThinkCentre M58 Desktop- Core2 Duo, 8GB, 2TB Review

Lenovo ThinkCentre M58 Desktop (Certified, Refurbished)

Lenovo ThinkCentre M58 Desktop with Intel Core2 Duo

Lenovo ThinkCentre M58 that is being reviewed on this page is a budget priced mid-range business network desktop with a compact form factor that delivers more than that its price tag suggests for both home or office use, being a certified and refurbished product but comes with all the accessories and a standard 90 day warranty. It looks and works just like brand new (but is sent in a generic box), without showing any signs of any wear and tear as it is inspected thoroughly before getting out on the market. Technical specs include the dual core Intel Core2 Duo processor (6MB L2 cache) at 3.0GHz speed without turbo or hyper threading so you have two cores and two threads, 8GB DDR3 SDRAM to have several apps and browsers open simultaneously without delays or freezing, very generous 2TB SATA HDD mechanical drive at 5400rpm which is more than what great majority of people would need and Windows 10 Pro operating system. Quarter 4 2008 release Core2 Duo E8400 has a benchmark score of 2175 at the time of this review which makes it a middle level processor that can handle your daily tasks efficiently without lagging and a Thermal Design Power- TDP of 65 watts. Black Lenovo M58 has an older but an attractive case design, weighs 19.6 pounds and measures 19 x 15 x 7 inches.

You’ll not get a monitor, keyboard or a mouse and you’ll be offered budget priced items with your order on the Amazon product page if you don’t already have them. Intel HD integrated graphics card offers average performance and you can carry out the usual multimedia stuff and play older games but definitely not the latest titles at acceptable settings and resolutions. It comes with the built-in Audio Intel Q45 and sound performance will rely on how good your external or monitor speakers are but sound quality is pretty good with this driver. Connectivity options include the CD-RW/DVD-ROM Optical Drive, Intel PRO 100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet with RJ-45 for wired internet access, 8 x USB 2.0 ports (6 rear and 2 front), Audio-out / Line-in / Microphone-in at the rear and Audio-Out / Microphone-in at the front, a Display port, a VGA port, Ethernet (RJ-11) connector, a standard eSATA connector and 2 x Internal high speed USB connectors. As a business network machine there are no HDMI or wireless cards and you can get USB HDMI and WiFi adapters cheaply and add them with no problems. A couple of customers complained about a low vibration sound but this seems to be a problem of these specific units, and there is no Microsoft Office on this one so that is an extra, no HDMI and no built-in wireless. Overall it is a decent no-thrills, cheap but a fast desktop that performs well and will meet your daily computing needs and will give you more than what you can get at the price level and Lenovo is one of the best computer brands in the world.
