23″ HP Pavilion 23-q014 AIO Desktop PC via Amazon
HP 23-q014 is a 23 inch screen All-in-One desktop computer with a dual core Haswell Intel i3-4160T processor (3MB cache) at 3.1 GHz speed without turbo boost but hyper threading for smart 4-way processing (Quarter 4 of 2014 release CPU with a Thermal Design Power- TDP of 35 watts), generous amounts of memory and hard drive: 8 GB DDR3L SDRAM (1 x 8GB) to multitask smoothly, 1 TB SATA hard drive at 7200 rpm rotating speed and 64-bit Windows 8.1 operating system pre-installed which you should upgrade to Windows 10 as it is out since the end of July and is available free of charge. Don’t get the wrong ideas by the processor being an i3 rather than an i5 or i7, it has a Passmark benchmark score of 4439 at the moment and performs as well as some of the 4th and 5th generation Intel i5 processors, which is also helped by the great 8GB memory. HP 23-q014 is a great versatile AIO computer that would be suitable for home, school or work use.
23 inch diagonal LED-backlit Full HD 10-point multi-touch enabled tilting display with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution (tiltable between -5 to 30 degrees), edge to edge glass IPS panel for up to 178 degree viewing angles horizontally and vertically offers very impressive clarity and beautiful colours. Intel HD Graphics 4400 is good for older games at higher settings and some of the latest titles at lower resolutions and settings- matches the performance of AMD Radeon HD 7550M dedicated graphics card overall. It weighs 17.7 pounds and measures 7.60 x 22.35 x 17.74 inches- saves on space and reduces clutter on your desk and in your room with a full computer being located inside the screen, which has a beautiful rectangular design with a durable aluminium coated stand and a soft pearl-coat finish. It comes with a modern wireless chiclet style keyboard and mouse (which is a little big) combo and both fit the AIO screen nicely in design and colours as they are white underneath and black on top and the touchscreen is white at the rear and black at the front. Connectivity options include the 802.11bgn wireless, Bluetooth 4.0, SuperMulti DVD/CD burner, 3-in-1 Memory Card Reader that supports SD, SDHC and SDXC memory card formats, 2 x USB 3.0 ports, 4 x USB 2.0 ports, a Microphone/headphone combo jack and an integrated TrueVision 720p high definition webcam with microphone.
Conclusion: HP Pavilion 23-q014 (L9K89AA#ABA) is an easy to set-up and operate, fast and reliable high performance computer with large amounts of memory and storage space, a FHD IPS display and great sound quality and decent wireless keyboard and mouse and it offers you everything you may need in a great AIO package. 8GB memory should be more than adequate for all the multitasking anyone could want but if you’re a more advanced user and will be using the computer for very advanced software and multitasking then it is expandable up to 16GB as one of the DIMM memory slots is available (one of them is used for the 8GB). We would have liked to see a 802.11ac for wireless but 802.11bgn also offers quite a bit of speed and coverage and for all the features you’re getting at a reasonable price, it really shouldn’t be a big deal. 1TB storage is equal to 1024GB and is plenty of space for all your regular and multimedia files- songs, photos and videos and 7200rpm speed is faster than the standard 5400rpm although not as fast as a Solid State Drive. It presents itself as a great multimedia machine for editing photos, streaming videos, some gaming and more on its large Full HD IPS 23 inch display. There is no HDMI output and you need an HDMI adapter if you want to connect to another screen (the latest iMac’s also don’t have the HDMI by default). There is only a single power cable and none for the keyboard or mouse and the whole computer is already inside the 23 inch screen. Very good value for money and is highly recommended.
