17.3 inch HP Pavilion 17-g192dx Laptop

HP Pavilion 17-g192dx - 17.3 inch

HP Pavilion 17-g192dx is the new large 17.3 inch non-touch screen mid-range computer with a HD+ screen resolution, fifth generation powerful and low energy using Intel i5 processor, large memory and storage for home entertainment and small office use. Ultra low voltage dual core Intel i5-5200U (3M cache) at 2.2GHz up to 2.7GHz speed, 8GB DDR3L SDRAM at 1600MHz which is plenty for multitasking power and that can be expanded up to 16GB, 1TB = 1024GB Serial ATA HDD at 5400rpm spindle speed and Windows 10 64-bit operating system. 17.3 inch diagonal HD SVA BrightView WLED-backlit HD+ non-touch display has the 1600 x 900 pixel resolution which is not as clear as the Full HD and anything less than HD+ would not be acceptable on such large screen. The built-in Intel HD 5500 is good enough for the usual daily multimedia- videos, web pages, photos etc. but not for demanding games at higher settings and it shares the memory with with CPU. It comes with a SuperMulti DVD Optical Drive, 802.11bgn wireless (no Bluetooth), built-in 10/100 Ethernet LAN with RJ-45 connector, Multi-format SD Media Card Reader, 2 x USB 3.0 ports, a USB 2.0 port and an HDMI output. HP True Vision high definition webcam on the top bezel is quite reasonable, offering good image quality for your still shots or live videos.

Island style non-backlit keyboard is full-size with a 10 key numeric pad on the side and a large and responsive touchpad as you’d expect from a computer this size. Bang Olufsen Audio and dual stereo speakers seem efficient for decent sound for your music, movies and games. Horizontal brushing in natural silver Pavilion 17 weighs 6.8 pounds with dimensions of 16.5 x 11.3 x 1.1 inches- not very portable and is designed as a desktop replacement with certain degree of mobility. 4-cell 41Wh lithium polymer battery offers long battery life of up to 6.5 hours in theory for things like watching videos at reduced light and you can expect around 4 to 5 hours. 5400rpm is not very fast as compared to 7200rpm mechanical drive speed and especially not the SSD but at least you have the large storage capacity of 1TB which you can always replace with an SSD as they are not so expensive now. We would have liked to see a Full HD display with IPS panel rather than HD+ but these things do add to the cost and would be a little hard at this level. This is obviously not a gaming machine as there is no mid-range or higher dedicated graphics card but an integrated Intel HD 5500 for newer titles at low and older titles at higher settings, resolutions and frame rates per second. This is a good multimedia friendly machine with a powerful i5 processor, reasonable integrated graphics card, large memory and storage and good connectivity options- decent value for how much it costs.
