Hp Pavilion 17-f215dx 17.3 inch Laptop

Natural silver / ash silver Hp Pavilion 17-f215dx is a mid-range large 17.3 inch screen laptop with an ultra low voltage Broadwell Intel i5 processor that was released in January 2015 and reasonable amounts of storage and RAM, it is suitable for a variety of daily multimedia, office and more demanding tasks including light to moderate level gaming and decent multitasking. HP Pavilion has the 5th generation dual core Intel i5-5200U processor (3MB L3 cache) at 2.2GHz to 2.7GHz speeds with turbo boost (speed moves up when you need it) and hyper threading with two cores for a smart 4-way processing power, 6GB DDR3L SDRAM for some extra multitasking power, 750GB Serial ATA hard drive at 5400rpm spindle speed + 25GB of Cloud based DropBox for free for 6 months and Windows 8.1 64-bit OS which shall be replaced by Windows 10 in just a few months (two releases were announced by Microsoft and are expected in Summer and Autumn 2015).

17.3 inch WLED backlit high definition display with BrightView technology with 1600 x 900 pixel resolution means this laptop has a HD+ display which is better than regular HD but not as good as FHD and is acceptable for a large 17 inch display and Intel HD 5500 graphics card that performs better overall than both the Haswell Intel HD 5000 and 4000 and a bit slower than the discrete NVIDIA GeForce 820M and don’t expect too much gaming power as you can play the latest 2014/2015 games only at low settings and frame rates per second but you’re fine with playing the older games smoothly. It has an integrated  front-facing HP TrueVision HD webcam with built-in dual array digital microphone that get rid of the background noise while you’re chatting live on Skype and good quality sound is provided by the Beats audio and stereo speakers. HP texture linear finish with horizontal brush design Pavilion 17-f215dx looks stylish and modern, weighs 6.23 lbs and measures 1.09 inch thin (dimensions of 6.23 x 10.98 x 1.09 inches) and is relatively portable for a 17 inch laptop. It has an island style keyboard with numeric keypad for comfy and accurate typing but is not backlit and has the HP Imagepad that supports multiple gestures. Connectivity options include the Multiformat DVD±RW/CD-RW drive, 1 x USB 2.0 port, 2 x USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI output, Media Card Reader that supports SD format, 802.11bgn wireless, 10/100Base-T Ethernet LAN with RJ-45 but Bluetooth is not enabled by default (you just need a USB Bluetooth dongle that will cost as low as a few dollars on Amazon).

Hp Pavilion 17-f215dx 17.3 inch LaptopConclusion: Hp Pavilion 17-f215dx is a fast and efficient 17.3 inch laptop that is both a desktop replacement and a portable alternative with a larger screen which makes viewing so much easier and lets you have two things comfortably side by side. Latest generation Broadwell i5 processor on this computer is an ultra low voltage one with a Thermal Design Power of just 15 watts which helps with battery life but we’d assume you can expect 4 hours or so on a single charge as it is a light 4-cell lithium ion battery. 6GB memory and 750GB hard drive would be plenty for most people but HDD has the 5400rpm speed which is kind of average speed and your files may take a little longer to open so replacing it with an SSD can be a good idea if you want more speed overall. Two of the USB ports are the 3.0 variety and they will enable faster transfer of digital multimedia and data. HD+ screen with 1600 x 900 pixels is not amazing but definitely more than adequate for this size screen and price level. Build quality is OK as the case feels a bit plastic but that also reduces the weight- something you would probably appreciate considering this is a larger display laptop. You’ll find the CyberLink Media Suite and 1 month trial version of Microsoft Office 365 pre-installed and for anti-virus you can simply go online and download free AVG or Avast and that should provide adequate protection. It comes with a 12 month limited parts and labor warranty by HP, is easy to set-up and operate and offers pretty good value overall (looks, functionality- speed and performance and build quality) for everyday computing and a bit more.
