HP Pavilion 15-ab292nr Flagship Laptop

HP Pavilion 15-ab292nr is the 15.6 inch flagship laptop with generous advanced technical specs and features, a Full HD touch display with IPS panel, faster 802.11ac wireless, the sixth generation Skylake quad core Intel i7-6700HQ processor (6M cache) at 2.6GHz up to 3.5GHz speed with turbo boost technology and hyper threading for four cores to handle eight threads in parallel for better CPU utilisation, 1TB Serial ATA hard drive at 5400rpm rotating speed, 8GB DDR3L SDRAM on a single DIMM at 1600MHz for enhanced multitasking power and 64-bit Windows 10 operating system. Intel i7-6700HQ has a benchmark score of 8019 which makes it quite a high end processor for superior performance for basically anything you throw at it. It can handle the most demanding apps with everything running smoothly with such high specs and the fact that it comes with the latest Windows 10 that boots up faster and runs more efficiently than the previous Windows 8.1.

15.6 inch Full HD touch display has the IPS panel for much better viewing angles, 1920×1080 pixel resolution for sharp crystal clear images and supports 10 finger multiple gestures. Intel HD 530 integrated graphics shares memory with the main CPU and although it performs 20% better than the previous Intel HD4600, it is not like a mid-range and above dedicated GPU but it will still let you play the latest games but at low to medium settings and acceptable frame rates per second and for graphics- photo and video editing, music creation and anything that is CPU intensive it has everything you need. The 720p high definition good quality front facing HP TrueVision webcam is good for both live chats and still snapshots and the B&O PLAY with dual speakers deliver satisfactory immersive sound performance at professional level according to manufacturer. Silver HP Pavilion looks stylish and modern with also a nice HP logo on the lid, weighs 5.25 pounds and measures 15.14 x 10.28 x 0.99 inches and has some powerful current features that make it suitable for both work and play.

Connectivity options include the DVD+/-RW that reads and writes to DVD and CD, 802.11ac wireless (Miracast enabled), Bluetooth 4.0, Gigabit Ethernet LAN, an HDMI output, 2 x USB 3.0 ports, a USB 2.0 port, Multi-format Digital Media Card Reader, Headphone output/Microphone input combo and a Security lock slot. Keyboard travel is 1.4mm and is comfortable to type on, has a numeric pad and a large multitouch trackpad with 110 x 65mm dimensions. It has a replaceable 4-cell lithium-ion 41WHr which is not very high capacity and with the system Thermal Design Power of 45 watts you can expect around 4 to 5 hours of battery life on average use as it will have to service a powerful quad core processor and a Full HD display. We like that it has a FHD IPS touch display with 1080p resolution rather than the regular 720p HD that would have the images suffer from pixellation. 8GB and 1TB are both generous although it would be nice to see a faster SSD or at least a 7200rpm mechanical drive and although 8GB RAM would be more than enough for most people you can also upgrade it to 16GB if needed. What we are not able to see in specs is a backlit keyboard and an aluminium chassis but remember this is a mid priced machine and you’re already getting quite a bit for your money. It is offered clean and free of bloatware as far as we know and you’ll get a standard 1 year warranty by HP and decent customer support.
