HP 15-BA009DX 15.6-inch Budget Laptop Review

HP 15-BA009DX 15.6″ HD Budget Laptop

HP 15-BA009DX is a 15.6-inch budget laptop with modest specs, including a non-touch high definition display, average size storage and memory, a lower mid-range AMD processor with a low-end graphics card, average battery life, good connectivity and decent performance for everyday basic home use by one of the better computer brands. The quad-core AMD A6-7310 has a current Passmark benchmark score of 2586 and offers a 2.0GHz base speed that moves up to 2.4GHz when needed with turbo boost, 4GB DDR3L SDRAM is good enough for running different tasks simultaneously without crashing the system, 500GB SATA mechanical hard drive at 5440rpm spindle speed is plenty for saving lots of files but SSD will always be a much better option for speed and the operating system is obviously the latest Windows 10 64-bit Home version with modern features you will enjoy if you haven’t used it yet.

15.6 inch HD WLED backlit display has the 1366 x 768-pixel resolution that supports 720p content playback but you can use the HDMI connection to watch Full HD content on your HDTV and without the IPS panel so viewing angles are not great. The graphics card is the basic integrated AMD Radeon R4 that is quite weak (slower than most integrated Intel HD graphics) for only light gaming- like Minecraft, League of Legends, WOW and Dota 2 (doesn’t support the latest games) and the usual multimedia performance like video streaming or basic photo editing at this low price level. The webcam is a standard VGA and offers acceptable webcam performance for your live chats, but not amazing. For connectivity, it comes with a DVD Optical Drive, a USB 3.0 port, 2 x USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI output, a 15 pin VGA port,802.11bgn wireless that works well (but slower than the latest 802.11ac WiFi and doesn’t include built-in Bluetooth), 10/100MBps Ethernet with RJ-45 connector for wired connection, a Memory Card Slot and a Headphone/microphone jack.

Black HP 15-BA009DX has a stylish design, weighs 4.74 pounds with the dimensions of 15.1 x 10 x 0.9 inches, so it is suitable for on-the-go computing being lightweight and compact for a 15.6-inch machine but the 3-cell 31Whr battery life is up to 5 hours in light use. Performance to price ratio seems to be pretty good on this budget laptop with features, performance, and low price: It runs the daily tasks smoothly without delays, non-backlit keyboard is nice to type on with a decent touchpad, has a sturdy and solid case that will not show fingerprints easily, image quality is better than acceptable and has a range of connectivity ports. 500GB mechanical hard drive can be replaced by an SSD by the user and the 4GB RAM is also upgradeable to 8GB as there is an extra slot for you to put in another 4GB. This is not suitable for demanding games or complex software like Photoshop or large file compressions but a decent one for simple daily stuff at home. If you are on a tight budget and need a simple computer with modern features and value for money, then you may certainly consider it.
