FLIR FX is a very modern indoor wireless video monitoring security camera- a great new addition to home security that is capable of producing 1080p resolution Full HD image, cordless so you can take it wherever you go, use indoors and outdoors and for different purposes- a good mix of work and play. It has several unique features like Rapid Recap that lets you compile all day’s activity into a very short video summary allowing you to view the whole thing in five minutes and sometimes in less than a minute- you see everything in an instant by condensing videos into a short video (a feature of Cloud), Smart Zone technology to focus on the area you want, zeroing in on the action by pinpointing the exact area- designate a specific area like the door or window without being bothered with unnecessary alerts and with Sports Recording option offering waterproof and submersible housing and mounting accessories and applications for outdoor security or recording in a car with the dashboard mount and more.
FLIR FX is a great cordless WiFi camera with a modern design that weighs just 8 ounces with dimensions of 2.7 x 2.3 x 4.7 inches- small form factor. You can view the video live on your iOS or Android tablet or smartphone in HD quality and the video captured is often FHD, sometimes regular HD and with relatively fine details. Battery runs for up to two hours and can be extended up to 4 hours with the internal FLIR accessories (battery is more of a backup thing for when the power is out). You can manage the camera through the app on your smart phone or tablet, have access to a few devices simultaneously, change video resolution from regular HD to 1080p FHD and from video to still. You will see the Rec (Record) button at the top, wireless button, Power on/off, microSD card slot (8Gb is included and you can expand it up to 64GB) and microUSB connections. At 160 degrees viewing angle through very wide lens is pretty good and will be able to capture the whole room or can monitor several points at once. It has 6 infrared LED illuminators for decent night vision. For storage you have two options: on microSD card or FLIR Cloud to have access wherever, from different locations.
It comes with motion, sound, temperature and humidity sensors and video and audio storage options. Live picture quality is quite good and you can take 4 megapixel still images, lets you see in the dark for up to 33 feet and if there is no wireless where you are, it has direct WiFi connection for up to 500 feet (creates its own WiFi network- the device and cam can connect one on one). WiFi connection is without wires but needs power to operate after two to extended four hour battery life. You can have a conversation back and forth from the camera to device with the 2-way audio and you can also choose to mute the sound but one of the customers commented that the sound quality is not the best. FLIR Cloud Plus subscription is good for heavier users and if you are not intending to pay for it, you get a 30-day trial free of charge then it switches to FLIR Cloud Basic.In the box you will find the wall mounting hardware, indoor stand, USB power adapter, 10 ft. USB cable, 8gb micro SD card, Instruction Manual (you’ll find better instructions online) and 12 month manufacturer warranty. You need to assign a different password for each camera as an extra security measure. It is one of the most versatile high definition security cameras on the market with a few great unique features.
