Dell Optiplex 990 Desktop Business PC

Dell Optiplex 990 Desktop Business Computer PC

Dell Optiplex 990 is a business style desktop computer with an older but high end powerful Sandy Bridge quad core Intel i5-2400 processor (6MB cache) for fast and reliable performance at 3.1GHz speed up to 3.4GHz with turbo boost with an impressive Passmark benchmark score of 5843 as of 19 May, 8GB DDR3L SDRAM memory on 4 slots for great multitasking capability of a few programs simultaneously while several browsers are open, 1TB Serial ATA hard drive at 7200rpm rotating speed with both the very large storage capacity and speed (sure it is not as fast as SSD but certainly faster than 5400rpm drives you will find on many other machines) and Windows 7 Professional (with the activation code included on the tower) that is much preferred to the newer Windows 8 or 8.1 operating systems. You may think Windows 7 Professional is older than Windows 8, 8.1 or 10 but it is actually still the best business operating system out there, designed for professionals with on-the-go lifestyles. As this is a certified and refurbished product it is made to look and function like brand new being thoroughly tested, inspected, cleaned and repackaged in a generic box and includes a standard 90-day warranty you will see on all such products and the original accessories and please also note that not everyone can sell certified refurbished products on Amazon.com, only select few that keep the high performance record can.

Dell Optiplex 990 Desktop Business PC

Black Dell Optiplex 990 has a regular, simple but clean look, weighs 20 pounds and measures 14.2 x 6.9 x 16.4 inches- neither too big nor compact. 8GB memory will be more than enough for a great majority of computer users and can be expanded up to 16GB, which will probably be only needed by a very small percentage. There is no monitor but a USB keyboard and mouse are included, comes with the built-in Intel HD 2000 graphics card with a performance similar to the dedicated GeForce G 105M so you may only play the easier games like Sims 3 or WOW and only at low settings and resolutions and has a built-in sound card as well. But remember this is not a gaming machine but a business desktop so judge it according to your work needs, not entertainment or gaming. Connectivity options include the SuperMulti DVDRW Optical Drive that reads and writes to DVD/CD, 10 x USB 2.0 ports, a VGA port, a DisplayPort, 10/100/1000Mbps LAN, Ethernet with RJ-45 connector, 1 x Audio out jack, 1 x Line-in jack, 1 x Microphone jack so there is no Media Card Reader and no HDMI output. Then you have the PCIe x16 Slot, PCIe x1, PCI, PCIe x16 (wired x 4), 2 x 3.5″ Internal Drive Bays and 2 x 5.25″ External Drive Bays, and it has a maximum of 265 watts power supply and this will somewhat limit what kind of graphics card you can put on it. Windows 7 Pro makes preparing presentations easier, will find the network printers very easily, and it will switch to Win XP mode when using business programs.
