11.6″ Dell Inspiron i3000-10099SLV 2-in-1 via Amazon
Dell Inspiron i3000-10099SLV is a modern 11.6 inch 2-in-1 touchscreen laptop around a 360 degree rotating display with a lower mid range quad core Intel Pentium N3700 processor (2MB cache) at 1.6GHz to 2.4GHz speed, 4GB DDR3L SDRAM (1x4GB) to work on different apps and browsers simultaneously (and 4GB is the maximum amount of memory you can have), 500GB SATA HDD hard drive at 5400rpm rotating speed and 64-bit Windows 10 operating system. Moonlight silver Inspiron is nice to look at, weighs 3.1 pounds and measures 7.9 x 11.1 x 0.8 inches- quite compact, sleek and lightweight too. There is no Optical drive due to size restrictions and being a two in one and no Ethernet with RJ-45 connector but the fast connection and wide coverage 802.11ac wireless, Bluetooth 4.0, two USB 3.0 ports for quicker transfer of data, a USB 2.0 port, an SD Card Reader, an HDMI output to view your screen on a larger external screen or your HDTV.
11.6 inch high definition Truelife LED-backlit touch display and IPS panel with 1366 x 768 pixel resolution and up to 178 degree viewing angles offers very clear images with nice details and vivid colours. Graphics card is the Intel HD Graphics (Braswell) that is twice as fast as the Bay Trail version of Intel HD but still not enough to play the latest games but only the older titles like World of Warcraft at medium settings or so. Waves MaxxAudio and stereo speakers offer impressive sound quality and it also has a 720p webcam with dual noise cancelling microphone for casual Skype chats with family and friends and a standard non-backlit keyboard without a 10-key numpad but a large and functional touchpad. Inspiron i3000-10099SLV is a low cost laptop and tablet in one with a touch display that can also be used in tent and stand modes and although the technical specs are average, this is a simple machine at a budget price that you can surf the internet, watch movies, work with Word documents and Excel spreadsheets on. Pentium N3700 is not the most powerful processor in the world with a Passmark score of 1878 which places it in the low to mid range CPU category and is designed for simple daily work rather than very heavy tasks.
In terms of memory 4GB is fine for a lot of computer users but again this is like the minimum amount of memory you should have on any system lately, but having said that it offers decent multitasking power and you will not be able to add additional memory if you feel it won’t be enough later on. Same goes for the 500GB mechanical hard drive at 5400rpm spindle speed, both the size and speed are standard and nothing special and will not let you open files as quickly as SSD and a bit slower than 7200rpm hard drives. You can’t add an SSD but can certainly replace this slower mechanical HDD with an SSD and if you wish to use wired connection to internet you may get an Ethernet adapter (USB to RJ-45). Thermal Design Power- TDP for this system is only 6 watts and although the 3-cell 43Whr battery is a not a very large one you will get an easy 10-11 hours out of it (average battery life is specified as 11 hours by the manufacturer) before having to recharge and being the built-in type it is not replaceable easily by the user. Price is quite low for a 2-in-1 convertible despite having low to mid-range technical specs and features yet decent connectivity options and as long your expectations aren’t too high this laptop will not disappoint and you will not have to pay for a notebook and tablet separately.
