Dell Inspiron I3558-5501BLK is a brand new 2017 model 15.6 inch touchscreen laptop as part of the 3000 series with mid-range specs and decent connectivity at a reasonable price. Technical specs include the dual-core Intel i5-5200U processor (3M cache) at 2.2GHz up to 2.7GHz, 8GB DDR3L SDRAM at 1600Mhz for advanced and smooth multitasking power, 1TB Serial ATA hard drive as ample storage but limited 5400rpm rotating speed and Windows 10 64-bit operating system. 15.6 inch high definition Truelife LED-backlit touch display has the 1366×768 pixel resolution and with the natural touch navigation you can make great use of Windows 10 but there is no IPS panel and the viewing angles are not the best (something you can’t have at low price point for which you’re getting a lot) and you can use the HDMI output and view the FHD content on a large HDTV screen.

Graphics card is the Intel HD 5500 for daily multimedia and light gaming, and is not adequate for current games at acceptable settings. 720p HD webcam is good enough for Skype chats with family and friends and you have the MaxxAudio and stereo speakers for reasonable sound for videos or games. Connectivity options include the DVDRW Optical Drive, an HDMI output, 802.11ac wireless for better internet coverage, 10/100 Ethernet and RJ-45 connector, Bluetooth 4.0 to sync with compatible Bluetooth enabled devices, a USB 3.0 port that is backward compatible with USB 2.0 units, 2 x USB 2.0 ports, an integrated 3-in-1 Media Card Reader that supports SD, SDHC and SDXC formats and a Headphone/microphone combo jack. Black Inspiron i3558 is sleek and modern, weighs 4.85 pounds and measures 15 x 10 x 0.87 inches- is fairly compact and portable. There is a decent full-size keyboard with a numeric pad on the side and decent responsive touchpad but the keyboard is not backlit if you prefer having it.

There is no dedicated graphics so you can’t really buy this as a gaming machine but the integrated HD 5500 is a capable one for regular multimedia and some level of gaming- not so demanding older titles fluently. This is a 2017 model Dell with a 2014 model ultra low voltage i5-5200U processor with a benchmark score of 3480 and will perform just fine in your usual daily tasks as a mid-range CPU, and you can’t expect too much here. You can watch videos, listen to music, type up your uni papers, work on spreadsheets, use Powerpoint for presentations, play older game titles, chat live on Skype and do media editing up to a certain level and you should not have any problems- it will not lag or freeze easily. 8GB capacity of memory can not be expanded but anyone that would need more than that would be buying a more expensive machine anyway. And the 4-cell 40 WHr lithium ion battery should give you around 4 to 5 hours on average, so nothing amazing here, but adequate. Despite the few cons we pointed out, we think this is a good value computer with a modern i5 processor, large memory and storage and good connectivity and you may certainly consider it if you need a computer for smooth operation of your daily tasks.
