15.6 inch ASUS X555DA-WS11 Laptop with AMD A10-8700P
Dark grey ASUS X555DA-WS11 is a sleek and modern high quality 15.6 inch laptop with a premium chassis, full size ergonomic keyboard, extensive connectivity and some impressive specs that help offer snappy performance for the low price level concerned. It comes with a mid-range quad core Carrizo AMD A10-8700P processor at 1.8GHz speed up to 3.2GHz with turbo but no hyperthreading (4 cores and 4 threads) with a benchmark score of a bit under 3600, 8GB GDDR3 RAM memory for better multitasking ability, huge 1 TB hard drive at 5400rpm rotating speed and Windows 10 Home 64-bit operating system. For connectivity it comes with a DL DVD±RW/CD-RW Optical Drive, 802.11bgn wireless, Bluetooth 4.0, 1000Mbps Ethernet with RJ-45 connector for wired internet access, 2 x USB 3.0 ports and a USB 2.0 port to connect peripherals, an HDMI output and a VGA (DVI) port to connect to an external display, a Media Card Reader to transfer data from mobile devices. Matte finish 15.6 inch LED-backlit high definition display has the 1366 x 768 pixel resolution so it is not really as clear or sharp as a Full HD display and panel is not IPS with wider viewing angles but still offers quite reasonable image quality. Keyboard is ergonomic and comfy and IceCool will keep your palms cool when you are on the laptop for a while.
8GB memory (4GB onboard and 4GB on stick) is not expandable as far as we’re aware but only a very small percentage of users would need more than 8GB. There is no Solid State Drive but a regular mechanical drive at slower 5400rpm speed with the advantage of very large storage and without the very snappy performance of an SSD and you can certainly replace the HDD with SSD as SSD’s are cheaper than they used to be. 15.6 inch regular HD display is not touch enabled and the webcam is a VGA and not high definition but is certainly acceptable at the low price point that you are already getting quite a bit with. The 2-cell 37Whr battery is the fixed non-replaceable variety and will last about 4-5 hours on a single charge. There is no dedicated graphics card here and you will need at least a mid-range one but instead you have a built-in Radeon R6 which will let you play the easy games without problems but games like Battlefield 4 at low settings and resolutions. Despite the lower price tag you have a powerful system here with a decent quad core AMD CPU and good amounts of memory and hard drive, sure there is no SSD, 802.11ac wireless, Full HD display or a dedicated GPU and battery life is not great, but you can not really expect too much here. Like the other Asus computer models this one also includes a warranty that is valid around the globe and which includes a year of Accidental Damage Protection.. Good value for money with positive customer reviews online- 4.1 out of 5 stars.
