ASUS E402MA 14 inch notebook

Dark blue ASUS E402MA is a modern and sleek, lightweight and compact budget 14 inch laptop with an entry level dual core Intel Celeron N2840 processor (1MB cache) that can handle basic day to day tasks at 2.16GHz speed with turbo function that moves it up to 2.58GHz and without hyperthreading (2 cores and 2 threads), 2GB DDR3L SDRAM memory at 1333MHz for some ability of running a couple of modern apps and browsers at once, modest amount 32GB EMMC Flash storage for more speed and snappy performance and 64-bit Windows 10 operating system with its user friendly new features including the Windows 7 start screen, Cortona personal assistant, the latest Microsoft Edge browser that currently only works on Win 10 OS and more. It has a reasonable quality 14 inch non-touch glossy screen with a 1366×768 pixel resolution, basic Intel HD graphics for basic daily photo editing and video streaming and viewing and smooth internet browsing as you will see the media rich pages load efficiently and light gaming, reasonable webcam with integrated microphone and an HDMI output if you wish to view the content on your laptop display on your big screen HDTV in Full HD resolution.

Other connectivity ports are the USB 3.0 port, a USB 2.0 port, a VGA port, 802.11bgn wireless, Bluetooth 4.0 and an Audio-out port. So there is no Optical DVD drive and no Ethernet RJ-45 which you can get very cheaply from Amazon during the purchase of this machine. Dark blue Asus E402MA-EH01-BL weighs and measures 9.30 x 13.30 x 0.90 inches- is slim and compact, has an ergonomic full size chiclet style keyboard with nicely spaced out keys- a 1.6mm key travel distance and you won’t feel the heat on your palms even after several hours thanks to the IceCool technology. It has the standard 12 month parts and labor warranty by Asus that you see on most other laptop brands and Asus is known to be one of the top computer brands globally even though this is a below two hundred dollar (at the time of this review) entry level machine with decent features and design, OK image quality with colours a little washed out and narrow viewing angles (well it costs so little), good sound through the integrated speakers, fair multitasking- it works more than fine but you don’t want to push it too much as you’re getting only 2GB of memory. And you will have a bit over 12GB of storage for your use out of the total of 32GB and you may want to consider an external hard drive if you have a lot of photos and files you wish to save or you may rely on Cloud storage. You really can’t go wrong with this Asus if you’re on a very tight budget or if you do not want to spend too much on a laptop.
