Mineral gray ASUS CM3 (CM3000DVA-DS44T-S) is a detachable Chromebook with an aluminum chassis, 10.5-inch WUXGA touch display, entry level MediaTek 8183 processor, 4GB memory, 64GB eMMC flash storage and Chrome operating system.
The late 2019 release ARM MediaTek 8183 processor (1M cache, 8 cores, 8 threads without the hyperthreading) works at the speeds up to 2.0GHz. It is mostly used in Android based tablets and can handle your daily simple Chrome tasks comfortably with an average CPU Passmark benchmark score of 1736 at the time of this product review. 4GB LPDDR4X RAM memory is an adequate amount for your daily multitasking needs and you can have a couple of browsers and apps running simultaneously.
64GB eMMC flash storage is not much in terms of local space (7GB) as some of it is taken up by the operating system (but a lot less than the 31GB of Windows OS). And the speed is higher than a regular SATA HDD hard drive when you’re opening your files etc. For connectivity you only have the two ports of a USB 2.0 Type C port with power delivery and display support and an audio jack as well as the 802.11ac wireless and Bluetooth. This is more like a tablet with a detachable keyboard and a Stylus pen.
10.5 inch WUXGA touch display has the 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution and 16:10 image aspect ratio, 320 nits of brightness and IPS panel with the 178-degree viewing angles. It comes with a 8MP rear webcam and a 2MP front webcam as well as the double five-magnet stereo speakers. It has the built-in ARM Mali-G72 graphics card with the three clusters and shall suffice for web browsing, video watching and streaming and playing the Chrome games which are not as demanding as the Windows games.
It weighs only 1.12 pounds and measures 10.06 x 6.58 x 0.31 inches, is mobile, portable, versatile and productive as it can be used in different modes in a single device. You have the right viewing angles and orientation for your work, study or multimedia stuff with its vertical and horizontal stand. The detachable full size and very functional keyboard has an ergonomic ErgoLift design and has the 1.5mm key travel for typing comfortably and improving the productivity. When you remove the keyboard and the stand it turns into a compact tablet for more creative use and you can sketch and take notes with the garaged stylus pen. The kickstand folds two ways.
The battery life is more than 12 hours from its 27Wh lithium polymer battery and you can be out and aboutall day long. The processor is not the strongest but will be fine for daily use and the cover slides around a bit. Asus Chromebook CM3 has a robust mineral gray 7.mm very thin aluminum unibody chassis with the delicate matte black diamond-cut edges. It has the stain repellent cover that makes it even more solid and durable for study, work and play.
It comes with a stylus pen that is charged automatically when garaged and will be ready for your use and offers a safe place for storage. It doesn’t have a cheap feel at all despite having a plastic keyboard and palms rests as the tablet itself is all aluminum. You get a year of 100GB Google One Drive membership for saving your files on Cloud storage and accessing them whenever and wherever you have internet access. It is suitable for personal, business and multimedia- web browsing, video streaming or gaming. It first became available on May 19, 2021 and is ranked 61st among 2-in-1 laptop computers.
