Acer Chromebook R 11 Convertible, CB5-132T-C1LK
Acer Chromebook R 11-CB5-132T-C1LK is the latest convertible 11.6 inch Chromebook that can be used both as a tablet and laptop (as well as in tent and stand modes) around its 360-degree rotating hinge, with a high definition multi-touch display, 802.11ac variety wireless, and impressive battery life at a budget price. It includes some basic specs such as the quad-core Intel Celeron N3150 processor at 1.6GHz up to 2.08GHz speed with Intel Burst, 4GB DDR3L SDRAM which we think is generous at this low price level and will offer more than adequate multitasking power when you’re running a few apps and browsers simultaneously, 32GB eMMC flash storage which is not a lot but you tend do rely more on Cloud storage with Chrome systems and there is an SD Card slot for you to add more storage and Chrome operating system that doesn’t attract many viruses and updates itself regularly in the background.
11.6 inch LED-backlit IPS widescreen high definition screen supports 10-finger touch functionality and has 1366×768 pixel resolution which is plenty for such a small size screen, large viewing angles without losing image quality and 16:9 image aspect ratio. Intel HD Graphics will let you perform your basic daily multimedia work for photos, videos and internet browsing or playing Chrome games comfortably. There is a reasonable high definition webcam for your live chats not on Skype but on Google Hangouts and the sound quality is surprisingly good through the speakers at the bottom of the laptop. This is a very compact device so there is no DVD Optical Drive but a good range of connectivity options for its size, which include a USB 3.0 port, an HDMI output, 802.11ac wireless with MIMO (2.4GHz and 5.0GHz dual band), Bluetooth 4.0, Secure Digital Card Reader, an HDMI output, a Headphone jack, and a Kensington lock slot. The 3-cell 3220 mAh lithium ion battery will last up to 10 hours on a single charge in theory and video streaming with average lighting, it should still last you at least 8-9 hours.
As a very light machine, the textured denim white Chromebook R11 is made of solid plastic, weighs only 2.76 pounds and with dimensions of 8.03 x 11.57 x 0.76 inches so you can comfortably take it anywhere in your small backpack. It offers a snappy performance of the Celeron processor with a benchmark score of 1706 which is much better than the Atom and the Celeron N3050 that is commonly found on entry-level convertible machines. We also like the 4-in-1 convertible design (of laptop, stand, tablet and tent modes), very long battery life, sturdy build quality overall including a sturdy hinge, the full size ports so you won’t need adapters for micro HDMI etc but keyboard is not backlit and due to size restrictions key travel is a bit short but still comfy to type on, looks stylish despite the plastic chassis with metallic finish (you may want to check out Asus if you want all aluminium), has a very convenient portable form factor, everything runs smoothly and all this is offered at an affordable price and a great alternative with all the great substitutes for Windows programs to the usual laptop experience. Overall this is an awesome convertible / hybrid system with only very minor flaws you’ll not even notice.
