The latest 2020 release 11th generation quad core Intel i7-1165G7 (12M smartcache, 8 threads) is an advanced processor that offers responsive and powerful performance with a PassMark benchmark score of around 10500 at the time of this product review. It would work both for daily use for entertainment and work and more challenging stuff, at the speeds between 2.8GHz and 4.7GHz with the turbo boost technology. And with a low Thermal Design Power you can get around 8 hours of battery life from its lithium ion battery at the low light settings when you’re browsing the internet and watching Youtube videos.

16GB DDR4 SDRAM is a good amount of memory that will be more than adequate for most users and is expandable up to 24GB. You can have a few apps and browser tabs open and running at the same time and not experience any lagging or freezing. 512GB NVMe SSD is quite large as a local storage if you will not be saving many games and videos and at much higher speed than the regular hard drives. Windows 10 Home operating system is pre-installed on this machine and you can start using it pretty much straight away after a short introduction process. You’ll get the trial version of Microsoft Office and you can certainly choose to pay to extend it.

17.3-inch Full HD IPS non-touch widescreen LED-backlit display on this Acer Aspire 5 has the 1920 x 1080-pixel resolution, decent contrast, vivid colors and 178-degree viewing angles both vertically and horizontally. Intel Iris Xe graphics card has the current videocard benchmark score of 2870 and is very powerful as an integrated GPU. It will let you play modern game titles at low to medium settings and resolutions and perform a variety of multimedia tasks. It is equal to the dedicated NVIDIA MX350 graphics card in terms of overall performance and better than the previous generation Iris Plus G7.

Acer Aspire 5 weighs 4.72 pounds and measures 15.89 x 10.38 x 0.78 inches. It is quite a large computer with a 17.3-inch display but has a lightweight and slim chassis that is less than 0.8″ thick. Connectivity options include the 802.11ax WiFi 6 wireless featuring 2×2 MU-MIMO technology, Bluetooth 5, 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet LAN with RJ-45 port connector, an HDMI output with HDCP support, a USB 2.0 port, a USB 3.2 Type-C port, 2 x USB 3.2 gen 1 ports one of which with power-off charging, and a microphone/headphone combo.
