Philips Norelco S9721-84 9700 Review

Philips Norelco S9721/84, 9700 is a high end wet and dry electric shaver with great features and top build quality and is designed to last a long time with proper care. It has three shaving heads that move in eight different directions, unlike most of the competitor electric shavers out there and manages to cover different contours of your face very easily- it is especially good to use on a sharper jaw in three different speeds of slow, medium and fast. It weighs 1.8 pounds and measures 3.1 x 2.2 x 6.2 inches, looks great in black- very sleek and modern and has a premium feel that shows the superior build quality and is very comfortable to hold during shaving- firm grip.

Philips Norelco is not a noisy unit- definitely quieter than similar competitor or lower grade electric shavers even though it does a better job of getting 20% more facial hair covering different curves of your face by the shaving heads that move freely in 8 directions and offering 30% closer shave with the newly designed V-track precision blades and state-of-the-art shaving system. The digital user panel with an integrated motion sensor automatically lights up and shows low power, how much of battery is charged (battery level), travel lock and replacement head indicators and when it is time to clean (cleaning indicator) with the very special Smart Clean Pro system with an advanced Multi-Display indicator, which is basically a separate unit that you put Norelco 9700 in and it makes it go through a four stage process of cleaning, drying, lubricating and charging up with a single touch of a button to help the shaver perform at its best every day and it saves you quite a bit of time and effort here.

You can choose to use the shaver to just do a dry shave or wet shave with a shaving foam or gel. It comes with a decent lithium ion battery that offers long battery life and you will see when it is time to recharge it clearly anyway. It charges the battery quicker than what you may be used to with other shavers and allows you to shave many times before having to connect it to a power outlet (5 min quick charge for one shave and an hour charge for roughly 50 minutes of shaving). Keep in mind that the shaver doesn’t work- you can’t shave when it is plugged in. In the box, you will find the Norelco 9700, power cord, SmartClick Precision trimmer, cleaning cartridge, SmartClean Pro and a nice and convenient travel case so you can take it anywhere you want (but this case is only for the shaver itself and not the Smart Clean system or the power cord)- this is not a cheap electric shaver and costs more than many other units on the market so you would expect to have some extras anyway from such a shaver.

Philips Norelco 9700 Electric Shaver

With how much it costs Philips Norelco 9700 would be considered kind of a luxury item for those that want the best with all the bells and whistles, great build quality, functionality, durability and versatility- with an average rating of 4.5 stars out of 5 stars of 54 customer reviews on Amazon.com on the day of this review, those that purchased the unit and are using it on a daily basis seem to agree that it is a brilliant electric shaver. But if you are holding back from purchasing this awesome shaver due to its price, there is another great alternative that costs about 100 dollars less (on the day of this review) and that is the medium to dark blue Philips Norelco 9300 (that doesn’t have the digital user interface and the SmartClean System Pro but a regular SmartClean system). Everything else is pretty much the same: You can choose the speed on both shavers- Slow for a gentle and skin-friendly shave, Normal speed for a regular but detailed shave and Fast for an high-powered shave if you are in a hurry. Both have the AquaTec technology that lets you have a comfy dry shave or a wet shave with a foam or gel. And both are great shavers for all the reasons above and highly recommended.
