Netgear Arlo Q – VMC3240 is a HD- 1080p resolution modern video surveillance system / security camera that can be used both outdoors and indoors and includes sound and free Cloud recordings for 7 days. You can comfortably use it for things like monitoring your little children / babies, the elderly or pets and for security reasons / against theft when you’re away from home, when you’re at work or traveling for leisure or business. You can control everything by your mobile phone, laptop, desktop or tablet screen, get instant alerts in case of motion and act on that- the WiFi range is 300 feet line of sight. You can also share the great quality videos with your loved ones. You can choose to get the two wired cameras in this 2 pack, a single wired camera, a wired camera with PoE, a wireless and a wired camera and the most expensive starter kit that costs more than 600 dollars at the time of this review. The unit includes infrared sensors that activate the cameras when motion or temperature change is detected. You can set the time the system can record and it will start recording straight after motion detection and you can adjust the duration of footage through your tablet or phone. As long as you have internet connection you will be able to view it from anywhere in the world, wherever you are.
Netgear Arlo Q is very easy to install with clear instructions provided in the package. There isn’t a full integration with the wireless system in your house and you need arm and disarm the WiFi system and the Arlo Q separately and wireless signal is not the strongest. You can focus more on Cloud storage (which is also free for 7 days) rather than paying for hefty subscription fees of some other models. The picture quality is very clear with vibrant colours and decent contrast- in fact it is better quality than more expensive cameras we have seen. The fact that it includes audio feature is great so you can use the integrated microphone and the speakers to communicate with people or your pets in the house. You have 130 degree viewing and although not designed for continuous recording you can do so all day and night. There is the night vision feature and you will be able to monitor what’s going on in pitch dark at night. You can get a pack of 12 lithium CR123A batteries with your purchase and the batteries last on average four to six months assuming 5 minutes a day of recording, which is the normal usage for these cameras. It is easy to operate, offers super clear images and for what it offers overall the price seems right for this two pack and we can say all the options are more affordable in comparison with some other models. Other than very small drawbacks, it offers great value for money.
