HP 24-g020 23.8″ All-In-One Desktop Review

23.8″ HP 24-g020 All-In-One Desktop

HP 24-g020 All-in-One Desktop

HP 24-g020 is a late 2016 release, budget friendly 23.8 inch All-in-One desktop computer with a mid-range AMD A8 processor, a sleek and beautiful screen that houses everything other than the keyboard and mouse, easy set-up in just a few minutes after plugging it in, generous multitasking capacity and storage and more. It is designed more as a living room computer with great looks offering great convenience with everything in one place for all the members of your family. It is easy on the eyes with its brand new design with a higher stand and the interesting ripple pattern.

Technical specs include the mid 2015 release quad-core AMD A8-7410 APU with a Passmark benchmark score of 2643 at 2.2GHz to 2.5GHz speeds with turbo and no hyperthreading (4 cores, 4 threads in parallel), 8GB DDR3L SDRAM at 1600MHz to run a few tasks at once without lagging or crashing, 1TB Serial ATA hard drive at 7200rpm spindle speed as more than enough storage space for lots of files and the Windows 10 64-bit Home operating system. The AMD A8 CPU on this AIO is not the most powerful out there but not weak either and will handle daily tasks (even some photos editing) efficiently, also helped by the large 8GB memory, so you can expect a performance similar to some of the 2014 model Intel i3 processors. You can upgrade the hard drive to an SSD but this requires a bit of technical mind and will be a little harder than conventional desktops. 8GB memory is 1 x 8GB on a single slot and is fixed at 8GB, more is not supported and the great majority of computer users purchasing this level of AIO PC will not need more memory.

It has a very sleek and modern design, includes everything in the screen, weighs 14.2 pounds and measures 22.9 x 7.71 x 16.65 inches. The keyboard and mouse included in the package are not wireless and you’re welcome to replace them with nicer ones as they don’t cost much. There will not be much clutter on your desk as the only cords are the power cord and that of keyboard and mouse combo and you can easily connect to the Bluetooth enabled printers, speakers, and other peripherals wirelessly. 23.8 inch WLED-backlit Full HD diagonal widescreen edge-to-edge touch display has 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution, with an IPS panel for very large viewing angles up to 178 degrees and supports 10-point multitouch to navigate through Windows 10 apps comfortably. Sound quality provided by the DTS Studio Sound is pretty good via the stereo speakers. The graphics card is the built-in AMD Radeon R5 Graphics with up to 4190MB memory what will be allocated by the operating system and you can’t really expect much in terms of gaming performance and you can only play the easier older games fluently.

For connectivity, it comes with an  Ultra-slim SuperMulti Optical DVD Drive on the right hand side of the display, 802.11bgn WiFi, Bluetooth, Ethernet with RJ-45 connector, 3-in-1 Media Card Reader, a HD webcam on the top bezel, 2 x USB 3.0 ports, 2 x USB 2.0 ports and an HDMI output for a dual display set-up. Wireless is not the latest 802.11ac variety but the previous bgn but is still fast with decent coverage. HP Support Assistant is a cool feature available to all the current HP computers and it will be a great help when you need it, with also the ability to contact an HP support technician online or via phone to help solve any issues. This is a decent value All-in-One computer that will be enough for pretty much anything other than advanced gaming and you will want to uninstall some of the bloatware for fast overall performance: Good multitasking, decent speakers, and sound, runs quietly, beautiful design, a large memory, and storage, capable processor, Full HD IPS touch display, plug-and-play type easy set-up and more.
