Matte 15.6 inch LED-backlit FHD non-touch display with IPS panel means 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution and up to 178 degree viewing angles- very clear images with great contrast and vivid colours. Graphics card is the advanced / high end NVIDIA GTX 970M with 6GB video memory with almost 4000 videocard benchmark points as of today which makes it one of the best mobile GPUs you can have and also has the complete Microsoft DirectX 12 support so you can play the most demanding games smoothly and comfortably and perform heavy multimedia tasks including photo and video editing. Metallic Asus ROG Strix has a modern futuristic design and is slimmer and more portable than a standard gaming laptop despite its 6 pound weight and will fit in your backpack easily so you can use it out and about. And as you may be already aware battery life isn’t these machines’ strongest point but this one is OK with up to 4 hours when streaming video or surfing the net and two hours when gaming. It has a dual fan system with heat pipes called Hyper Cool Duo-Copper Cooling that helps cool the main processor and the graphics chip separately. There is no Optical Drive and if you will be playing games from DVDs then you will need to connect an external drive but includes a variety of connectivity options including the advanced 802.11ac WiFi with better speed and coverage, Bluetooth 4.1, Gigabit Ethernet with RJ-45 connector, 3 x USB 3.0 ports, a reversible USB Type-C port via USB 3.1 Gen 1, a mini Display Port, an HDMI output, a Headphone-out & Audio-in Combo Jack and a Media Card Reader for micro SD format. You can basically run and play any game you can think of- even the most demanding of 2015-2016 at high or maximum settings and resolutions and you will still play very smoothly with more than 30-40 frames per second. 16GB memory is already quite generous for the majority of users and those very advanced users that need more can expand it to up to 32GB but in most cases this won’t be necessary.
